Um.. we will never come back to this resort.😞 We still had a great time and made fun memories! But Brady had I agree that we’ve NEVER stayed at a hotel that had more problems and issues… even after talking with management multiple times...which we were really surprised by because we stayed at this same resort (Hard Rock Cabo San Lucas) back in Nov 2020 and thought it was awesome. (Which is why we came back with our kids) But this second time in Dec 2021? Pretty bad.

I purposefully pay for vacations myself so I can freely give you my opinions on places we travel to. And while sponsored trips are great (I mean, who wouldn’t want a free trip right?!😉) There are contracts and things associated with them… not to mention that you get treated differently when the hotel knows who you are and it’s not as authentic of an experience everyone else might have. So I don’t agree to those as often on purpose.

Maybe some of you won’t appreciate the bluntness of this post?🤷🏼‍♀️ But I hope that others do.

We’ve stayed at so many awesome places that I’ve shared here or on my YouTube channel that we’d recommend instead!

I just think that if you’re paying a lot of money to travel, you want to go somewhere great right?? And friend’s recommendations are always helpful for me. So hopefully this is helpful for you😘

🌟Funny enough… we stayed at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya last year over Christmas and LOVED IT! Crazy that the same hotel chain in Cabo could be such a polar opposite experience.

✈️We use different credit cards to earn points to redeem for Free Travel. Before I start:

💥DO NOT open up new credit cards if you have massive debt and/or have a hard time paying off your credit cards in full every month.
👉🏻Get out of credit card debt FIRST.

These are the cards we like & have helped us travel over Christmas for FREE:
.
1️⃣Delta Amex: We earn Skymiles when we travel. But we also earn Skymiles faster by buying everyday items with this card. We pay it off in full each month so we don’t accrue interest.
.
There are a few different Skymiles AMEX Credit Cards. Some have annual fees or different benefits. You can use my referral link if you want higher bonus miles for signing up: TheMeleaShow.com/DeltaAMEX or you can just search for it online if you’d rather. **Once you get there, make sure you choose business or personal and click “view all cards with a referral offer” if you want to see ALL of the Delta Skymiles CC’s.

So for how much we travel, the cards we love may not be the best fit for everyone. So that’s why I recommend you compare the Delta credit cards, fees and benefits and pick the one that works for you!

So when we use these CC’s, we can redeem points directly for travel on the Chase website or we can exchange the points for a 1:1 ratio directly to travel partners like Marriott & then use Marriott points to book free hotel stays!

For years we would just book the cheapest airfare— no matter which airline it was. But we soon realized we could never redeem our miles for Free Travel or get Free Upgrades because all of our miles were spread out around numerous airlines.😩
.
So we switched our strategy. Here is what we personally do now:
.
1️⃣We chose Delta since they fly just about everywhere we want to go. And have partners that fly internationally if we ever need them.
.
2️⃣We already had Skymiles accounts for Brady and I. But then we also created Skymiles for each of our kids! (👈🏻Smartest thing ever to do!) Our kids now actually have status with Delta with how many Skymiles they’ve accumulated over the years.
.
3️⃣Delta also has something called Delta Vacations, where you can book both Airfare & Hotels together and pay for it using miles, miles + cash or just cash. So even if you don’t have enough miles, you can pay for part of your trip with your Skymiles!
.
4️⃣It’s only taken Brady & I a couple years to build up our Skymiles status so that we get upgraded to First Class for FREE a lot. So we can use our Skymiles points or cash to buy Main Class and then get bumped to First!🤩
.
5️⃣You don’t HAVE to do this. But it does speed up the process. We also ended up getting one of the Delta Skymiles AMEX Credit Cards. By using that, it helps us earn Skymiles faster than just flying alone.
.

I don’t recommend a complete spending “freeze” right now… because January is the biggest month of the entire year for clearance deals on EVERYTHING.
.
💥👉🏻Instead, I recommend being stricter and smarter with what you do buy (if anything)
.
1️⃣Only buy things on clearance you really need or have have been looking for a deal in. Don’t just buy it because it’s on clearance and the deal is insane. If you don’t really need it or wont use it, it doesn’t matter how good of a deal it is, right? Don’t let those Target clearance aisles suck you in 😉😂
.
2️⃣January is also the time to get your finances back on track. So if you don’t need anything, don’t spend anything. Pay extra to credit card balances, build up your savings, clean out and sell items you any no longer want and put together a budget plan for 2022.
.
3️⃣ Since we are in Clearance Deal mode right now, I’ll be sharing the awesome clearance deals I happen to see with you guys this month on my stories.
