when you go on vacations and use Uber's with little kids do you just not use car seats? I know yours are a little bit older. I have a 7 year old that still uses a booster and a three-year-old that still has a 4 point harness car seat and I just feel like it's such a pain in the butt to have to lug those around when you have no access to a rental car to keep them in. What do you do when your kids were younger?
When my kids were younger we did do rental cars with car seats. But if you are only doing an uber to the airport and back it wouldn't be hard to add those. If you were ubering everywhere, that's when it would be better to rent a car–and probably cheaper.

We have stayed at the Marriot next to the Aulani resort and we always hit the costco before we go so we can utilize the kitchen!!

Great tips Melea! I wanted to surprise my daughter-in-law with a trip there (for her and her kids) – but the cost for food is outrageous (even for Hawaii!). I think we will just do Disneyland and a different trip in Hawaii. ThankS!
I agree! It's either hit up Costco to save money on food while you are there or find places outside of the resort to eat.

Hawaii is not the Aulani Resort! Disney caters only to the wealthy. That is a fact.
The Disney target guest is primarily the upper middle class to wealthy. However by 2025 the middle class will also struggle to enjoy multi days at any Disney Resort or Park. There are financial youtube videos explaining why Disney's target customer is the 1%. And no longer middle America. Very informative too.
Aulani is totally overrated. Hawaii, in general, is expensive, but in other islands at least you get yummy food in return, we found Oahu lacks in comparison to others like Maui, Big Island or Kauai… Sadly rather not come back, and would definitely recommend other family-friendly resorts in other islands like the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Big Island
Aulani is a good place to end your Hawaii vacation especially since all the tourist sites are so far away. Stay at Waikiki when you first arrive as a base to site-see. Make buffet reservations a few months before you arrive. They used to have the free Luau show. Since you have to pay, it might be better to go to Germainâs Luau. The food is cheaper across the street in the to-go market. Overall, the water park is the best thing about the trip. You need to line up at 6 am to enroll on some activities like draw some Disney cells and enroll your kids in the beach house. Do back to back activities with lunch or dinner for your kids. You get 3 hours of free time. Bring your own Disney Resort mug. The mugs are not activated. Itâs a honor system. I actually reused my regular beverage cup several times until it was worn out.
Gone to Aulani twice. The spa alone is worth it.
Went to Maui this past September. It was gorgeous, Well worth the price. This resort seems well overpriced even by Hawaii or Disney standards.

I've been there it is amazing went during pro bowl friend had timeshare do she let us buy her week time so it was alot cheaper for us but Costco target are there and the prices te same as the mainland and the strip mall across the street was so nice lots shops restaurants so worth it

As an adult without kids, I wouldn't recommend the Aulani. I went with my sister, and it was overpriced, the food was not great. food was expensive, the adult area was too small, the beach was a small bay with no waves, and there were kids like 3 deep in every direction you walk. That is a really sad conclusion for me to come to, but I have been a long time Disney annual pass holder, I go to Disneyworld once a year, and I have been on Disney cruises as well. It just isnt worth it at Aulani. You would have a much better experience and a more economical vacation if you stayed elsewhere in Hawaii. Like, if you want the Disney experience go to Disneyland or Disneyworld, if you want the Hawaii experience, go to another hotel on Hawaii.
Insane. It truly does not sound worth it. I travel all around the world and would NEVER EVER pay that much for just a hotel no matter how much a Disney fan I am. But that is just me…
