The Melea Show we live in the eye of a hurricane meaning we were devastated by Katrina 12 years ago and were spared by hurricane Harvey
You thought of things I never even thought of!!! Awesome video!!
I was hoping that you would show us how you pack your bags, what you put in the kids bags and stuff like that 😉
The Melea Show yes you are so healpful, i absolutly love u u are so inspiering. ððððððð
Thanks so much for posting. I have been putting off making my kit for awhile but this was the motivation I needed. Could you do a car emergency kit as well?
Thanks my mom wanted to make one since what happen for throughout the weeks
The Melea Show, can you do a collab with Life as Five?
Luv u, Great vid!!!
So timely! Great info. I just added earthquake insurance to my home owners policy 😉 Waay to many natural disasters happening around us these days!
OMG thank u so much, this helped a lot!! And I adore ur kindness towards everyoneâ¤ï¸
I'm never this early!!!!
Hurricane Katrina damage is still not completely fixed so we need to try our best to not let new hurricane damage get lost in the swing of the thingd
Thank you so much
Good ideaâ ðð»ðð»
Thank you for making this video, it helped me so much
Love the vid!ðð
You surprisingly made this topic much more interesting.
Imodium, vitamin C, seeds. Koolaid singles or coffee and tea.
I have had a kit for 2 years.
I absolutely love this video. Great video idea with all this craziness in the world rite now
You are amazing! Thanks for this. I can tell that you put a lot of time and thought into this. I was feeling very overwhelmed but I made my focus on getting a small bag together for my car. Now that that is done, I feel like I can get on with my at home go bag for me and my daughter. A couple of things that you might want to include is gatorades and a bandana or ð· mask. Remember 9/11? Anyway, thanks for researching prices and doing it on a budget. Thank you!!!
This is really good timing too!
This is very eye opening, I've had many dreams where I'm not prepared and I'm excited someone posted something on this!!!
This is amazing I got my basic bags done about 6 years ago when I was still at home with my parents. But am now upgrading for my kids and husband. Thanks you are doing great. You explained things very well and reminded me of upgrades I can do. You mentioned diapers for a baby bag. I would also suggest flour sack towels, snappis, and cloth diaper covers for a reusable option incase you run out of diapers. Also formula even if you are breastfeeding because God forbid something happens to mommy or gets separated somehow and bottles.
I don't have children but 2 dogs. How can I plan for them?
Sylvia Garcia same thing except dog version!! Dog foods that have a loner shelf -life , clean water for you and your dogs , lots of blankets and maybe some collapsible crates incase of needing to secure them . Chew toys to keep them occupied oppose to toys. Stressed dogs don't like to play but like to chew on things ! But don't forget about yourself !!!
* also they sell dog backpacks, if you have larger breed dogs they can definitely hold some of there own belongings in the case of evacuation!
What great ideas, thanks! I have a dog too and would definitely want to prep for him!
I found this brochure on the FEMA website: https://www.fema.gov/media-library-data/1390846777239-dc08e309debe561d866b05ac84daf1ee/pets_2014.pdf
Thank you in Mexico there was a earthquake and my aunt was there ð¥ð
Shouldn't you have dish soap for your dishes?
Also don't forget LADIES to get FEMININE PRODUCTS you may not think you need them yourself but you never know when an emergency can happen and your body won't always agree with you. Also tampons can help with any nose bleeds too! Also roll your clothes in your bag saves room to fit more inside compact everything as much as you can! Great ideas and great video and if you have pets don't forget about them and the care for them too a lot of ppl forget there furry friends and then they get hurt too and in a stressful emergency sometimes they can help relief them for you and your kids so don't forget to get them food and water too!
Great Video ð Im in Florida, close to the Florida Keys. We just experienced Hurricane Irma. Thank God our family is okay. Our family is usually prepared cause we've experianced 9 Hurricanes, Including Hurricane Andrew but these are great tip.. picked up some great ideas ⤠Fyi there are some compressed toilet paper tablets that are very light weight. They expand with a few drops of water and are as strong as a baby wipe. Trust me they are amazing. https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-Compressed-Tablets-Camping-Travelers/dp/B073JRGXK6
Hey Melea! A great resource is the LuminAID! It's a rechargeable, solar powered, inflatable (so it floats) lantern/flashlight thing! It's a little on the spendy side but it's in all of my families emergency kits! With one always
in our backyard so it charges! https://luminaid.com/ there's the link if you want to check it out
Another thing to add is period pads and training pants even if your young kids are potty trained. In a emergency some young kids might have accidents or no place at the moment to use a potty. Baby wipes to bathe with or whatever you need. These are some needs we needed during hurricane irma. Luckily we had!
Thanks so much for all your hard work putting this together to share with us! We live in Alaska. I've been thinking a lot about this lately as well. You're Awesome! Thanks for all of your great videos! Take care! ðð
Cold medicine and allergy meds as well just in case
Very timely â¤ï¸Thanks for doing this video. You have a large audience and I pray they will pay attention to your recommendations.
For those new to the idea of an emergency kit, this list could seem overwhelming. I promise it's not that bad. Print the list and make a commitment to purchase a few things each week.
The cash is a great idea!! During Super storm Sandy the ATM's were down for a week! Now I keep a couple hundred dollars in singles & fives. I also keep lanterns, batteries & food. Before the food is about to expire we eat it or donate it to the food pantry & I restock. I also bought portable chargers, we had no electric for a week. They worked great! Ty for the video..
A very important video, especially after all the bad storms this last year. Good list to start with, people can add and change things to what works for their families and area. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm not ready for an emergency but now I will be
I would Strongly suggest taking a Basic survival class. Your gear  list will change once you and your husband take a survival coarse.
This video was awesome. Definitely need to make these. Thank you for doing this!
This is amazing. I never thought about anything like this but great info. I think another good video would be a kit that you can keep oh your car in case you have car trouble in bad weather or something like that. I will be working on my kit this week.
Can someone tell me how to be come her team member on ibotta???
i can understand the cost-savings appeal as i, too, try to find the best prices. but the one thing you don't want go cheap on is the multitool/knife. spend the extra money here. a cheap knife means cheap metal that can easily bend or break with the first use.
for a multitool, i'd recommend either leatherman, gerber, or victorinox. for a knife similar to the one you showed, go with victorinox. and don't worry about getting one with a corkscrew. you probably won't be doing too much uncorking of wine bottles in an emergency situation. get one with tools that will be useful.
but if i had to choose one over the other, i'd definitely go with a multitool. they have most of the same tools as a standard victorinox "swiss army knife", plus they have the added benefit of having pliers. they aren't cheap, but they are well worth the extra money. also, both leatherman and gerber make a multitool with one-hand opening capabilities.
all-in-all a good kit, just make sure you spend extra on the items where it really counts.
One tip get a Gerber knife and a more quality flashlight. My husband said if you go too cheap they aren't even worth having.
