When I wrap I try to cut to size and I use any scraps for smaller or stocking gifts.
I also save Xmas cards and cut them up to use as gift tags the following year. I only cut where there's no writing on the other side, and then I punch a hole in it. Some come out so beautifully, you'd think I bought it.
Omg my family doesn't do that but I thought of it before I even watched this vid
My parents put all presents in our locked suitcases and change the code each year so they didn't have to wrap them right after buying so we wouldn't peek!
Also if anyone knows of someone who does these type of videos but in Canada please let me know!
I'm new to your channel & just subscribed. I have not purchased Christmas wired ribbon in 10 years! There was a little discount store around the corner with 2.5in x 55 yards of ribbon for $1.00:) needless to say, I bought 35 types of the same and other styles.
I buy paper after the holiday when it's on sale. I also get those hard boxes that are already decorated, you just open the lid on clearance. I use them for Santa gifts that go out Christmas Eve or for friend gifts. our friends know which gift is from us from the same box year after year. They gets the goods out and give us the box back. It's a joke to see the different size gifts in it every year.
Brown craft paper is also super cheap and durable. One year I got alphabet stamps from Targets dollar section and stamped their names on gifts from Santa right on the paper. Added a little red twine instead of a bow, very rustic and cute!
another great video 🙂 so helpful!
i have teens so last yr i put all of their gifts in one box the technology like games I put on the bottom and put clothes on the top so they thought they were receiving just clothes but when they reach the bottom they found it was something that they really want it like a Nintendo 3ds an iPod or something they really wanted
Thanks for the video and tips. Years past I've bought wrapping paper after Christmas, but some places up the price so then your really aren't saving. But I will try Hobby Lobby, it truly sounds the best.
So my mom has started doing something with wrapping now that all of her kids are teenagers. What she does is get a really large bag for each person in our family and puts all of their gifts in that one bag. It saves her so much time in not having to wrap them and she makes fun guessing games out of it. Like each person has to close their eyes and reach in the bag and grab one thing. Then they have like 3 guesses to try and figure out what it is! ð it has been so fun with all of us young adult and teenager children and she no longer has to stay up late wrapping gifts. Plus she just uses the same huge gift bags every year and so she is saving money by not buying wrapping paper every year :)
I save money by using all of the wrapping paper I have, before buying more (even though it's very tempting to buy new wrapping paper every year)
i always buy the wrapping paper when its on sell after christmas
florence drayer same here!
I Go to Hobby lobby and target the day after Christmas and just buy any Christmas decorations, containers, Christmas candy or wrapping supplies; even tape is on sale. I love going after it is a little bit crazy see you want to go right when they open, but you they still have the cutest wrapping paper and it's usually half off.
As a Hobby Lobby wrapping paper snob (it's the best!!), I too have tried going there the day after Christmas but everything was still at the same 50% off that it was before Christmas. I'm curious what discount your store offered. Thanks!!
It usually 50%, but the decor is like 60-70% off. You can wait an extra day and I believe it goes on sale more to like 70%
One year my mom put all our gifts in one box. Each child (7 of us) had a box full of our own things. It was pretty amazing! I've never forgotten that Christmas. It was the best!
But I love the wrapping paper idea! That's genius and I'm gonna do that. Thx!!
Awesome idea for the peekers!
We just got a Hobby Lobby! I am so excited!!
I love love love this!
We always go to the store the day AFTER Christmas, and stock for next year!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your tips!! I sometimes will buy Christmas wrapping paper after the Christmas season for .25-.75 cents a roll at Walmart and save for the next year! With 4 kids we go through a lot of wrapping paper! Also I'll try to but rolls at the end of the season that isn't necessarily a Christmas pattern, like stripes or polka dots, or a glitter and use them on birthday gifts throughout the year!!
one year when i was a kid my parents wrote with a sharpie one letter hidden on the presents to tell who they belong to and added tags xmas eve! very clever as one year my brother guessed all my gifts and told me that was not fun no surprises!
Our entire family reuses boxes for Christmas. We have our kids trained to not tear the boxes and we all get a good laugh at trying to recover the name tags. It took us a few years to do it right but now we know if we are using a box for the first time then we should use a small tag so the next year a larger one will cover it.
Also, I use fabric bows (fancy, shmancy) on my families gifts and reuse them for years.
This is just what I needed! Thank you!
I have actually wrapped gifts in fabric bags that I make and tie a ribbon around them. Not the cheapest way, but good way to use up my sraps
Sephora gift wraps for FREE! And this year gift cards come in super cute little bags
I like to use old paper bags from the local grocery store and colorful patterned ribbon (70% off at Michaels last weekend) and some type of evergreen or trimmings from the tree. I love the rustic look it gives, it's economical and "green".
Dammit!! I just got the wrapping paper today! :/ i was too late. But thank u. Ill keep this in mind
I love finding "Christmas" wrapping paper that can also easily serve as paper for Birthday presents. You can also turn that paper over and use the blank side. Also, I am not a "yard saler", but even on online yardsales through FB people sell their wrapping paper, tissue, bags and bows oftentimes Brand New for pennies! I've never understood that! lol. ð
This is my second year giving my kids their own paper. I love the idea and it's so fun when they find out which presents are theirs. we cut a pice of wrapping paper and put it in their stocking, that's how they find out.
thanks for the tips, but quite honestly, I buy my wrapping paper after Christmas when it goes on clearance, then I use it the next year. ð
I buy my wrapping supplies the day after Christmas at Hobby Lobby.
As a Hobby Lobby wrapping paper snob (it's the best!!), I too have tried going there the day after Christmas but everything was still at the same 50% off that it was before Christmas. I'm curious what discount your store offered. Thanks!!
Shelley G I don't really know. We live an hour away so it's just fun for me to go the day after Christmas and stock up for the next year. I guess I end up saving because I don't have to worry with buying supplies at all for the next year. I get the great paper and I'm not making Walmart runs.
all wrapping goes to the trash so this is a great video to save money i will go to walmart and dollars treeâ¤ð¥ð¹ð
I wrap our gifts in news paper hahahaha 🙂 thank you sooo much for all the grear useful tips 😀 !!!!
Hi, great tips. Always save gift bags and tissue paper. Growing up we always had a box of used wrapping paper. Also, pieces of ribbon and small pieces of wrapping paper that were left after you cut the paper to size for the gift. We also reused the gift tags back when they weren't peel and stick. I never did like to tear the paper. I would bring a butter knife to help me get around the tape. My grandparents lived through the Great Depression, some of the saving things must have trickled down through the years.
love the different paper for each person idea!
I buy bows and tags after Christmas!
I stocked up on wrapping paper after Christmas and got rolls for about .50-.75 cents each, I'm using those for neighbor gifts this year.
I too buy anything Christmas wrapping related boxing day etc and get it cheap for the following year. I also use Santa paper for gifts from him and character paper from us.
dollor General
Loved video . I was excited and grabbed some wrap paper at dollar general when they had half off . I always hit up Walmart day after Christmas and stock up for the following year ðð
Oh no. I got caught in the Costco trap. Sneaky them! Makes me think there is more since there were four.
I wrap as I buy that way the peekers can't see what's inside. And I use certain papers for my daughter and my son so I don't have to use gift bags. Also I wrap the large packages first and use the smaller left over bits to wrap the stocking stuffers and smaller packages, so I waste as little paper as possible.
I have 4 kids my boys like to feel and count gifts so I leave them in closet wrapped until Christmas Eve lol I was hope they would grow out of this but nope lol . My kids are 21, 17,. 11 and 7
