We went to Tahiti over Christmas this year. So in case any of you have traveling to Tahiti, Moorea or Bora Bora on your Travel Bucket List, I wanted to put together a video that shares 19 MUST KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Travel Tips to Tahiti! Plus, I’m sharing an Overwater Bungalow Tour with you guys so you can see what they are like before you start planning your dream vacation!
This is actually our second time going to Tahiti and we loved the Hilton Moorea! (NOT SPONSORED, btw) I wanted to make sure you guys knew all of the amazing ways we saved money on this family vacation. Because even though it is a more expensive trip overall- there are ALWAYS ways to save and make a vacation cheaper! (Even in Tahiti!)

Is there any limit on how many kids can eat and fly for free? (1 per paying adult)
KatelynGFamily I just went exploring on Hilton moorea website and it looks like you can only have 2 kids/room
You wouldn't be able to fit more than 2 kids per room at the Hilton. And as far as flying I believe it is one per paying adult.. but they keep changing their rules. So maybe check out their website on Air Tahiti Nui and see what their latest rules are!
Yeah I saw that too! Â I have 3 kids so that is really frustrating! Â so it would be 20,000 for us instead of 10,000 for 5 days. Â I mean get really…a 20,000 dollar vacation!
Can you give the total cost for your family of 4 for hotel, flight, and activities. It would be awesome to have a ballpark number for a trip like this.
$1200- $1800 airfare.. depending on when you go. So definitely go when you can find the cheapest tickets.
The Hilton was more expensive than the other hotels there. BUT, that was our personal choice for the reasons that I mentioned in the video. Other hotels there are as low as $300- $400 a night.
Car Rental was expensive when we went⦠around $600 for 6 days. (However, we also went over Christmas- which is high season. It should be cheaper during low season times)
Food was the most expensive part. I would recommend bringing snacks in your suitcase with you, shopping at the grocery stores to help save a little bit, etc. I mean, âcheaper mealsâ at restaurants were $15- $20. So maybe only eat out for dinner if you are looking to save money. I would also check hotel menu prices before you book so you can plan for those prices before you go!
I looked last night at the hilton and it was like 10,000$ for four or five nights! Â I do have 3 kids though. Â Maybe I did something wrong though because that seems outrageous to me.

Not having to pay for our kids saved us at least $1200 PER Ticket! Food for the kids was at least $400 (we were there a whole week and food is crazy expensive). Rentals from the resort are hard to put a price on because I don't know how much other resorts charge for that kind of stuff. Taking the ferry vs flying from Papeete to Moorea saved our family $1600.

How long was the flight and total travel time to Tahiti from SLC UT.
From LAX to Tahiti it was 8.5 hours. It was a red-eye flight. So our kids slept the whole time! SLC to LAX was 1.5 hours.

Did you stay in the overwater bungalow most nights and then stay in the regular bungalow when you were waiting for your flight home? Or did you do that to save money? Sorry it was a little confusing!
